Solid Effort by Jacks has Amherst on the ropes

After a good effort by the Jacks against the Slammers the Jacks were on the road to Amherst on Saturday night. The Ramblers were still looking to get back on track were out to bury the Jacks early as they came out physical off the opening face off. Much to thier displeasure the Jacks, with McQuaid between the pipes were not going to go easy and certainly not by being intimidated.

The first period caught the powerhouse ramblers off guard as the Jacks sniped in two to break things open and the tension in the Jungle was mounting. A late third period goal on a healed backhand found the smallest of holes on MacQuaid to get the Ramblers back within one.

The second was another strong period for the Jacks but Tingley was holding the Ramblers in the game as the Jacks continued to slow down the Ramblers attack. A couple of nice plays by the Ramblers allowed the crowd to rest a bit more at ease as they started up the verbal taunts once again and the Ramblers left the ice up three to two at the break.

The third was something the Ramblers were simply not ready for as the Jacks came out with the full intent of winning this hockey game and the effort showed as they tied the game at three on a beautiful tic, tac, toe powerplay goal. The Ramblers would answer at 9:34 to go up one again but Luc Ramey replied with a goal 20 seconds later to bring a hush over the crowd.

The final few minutes had the Jacks buzzing and some good pressure by MacEachern created his own breakaway chance with a little over three on the clock and that puck just missed over a sprawling Tingley. As it is too often in hockey, a great chance and miss at one end somehow creates a chance against you and Amherst executed a tight 3 on 2, to bury the winner, under the bar. The Jacks may not have won this game but the boys are battling and their getting closer . . .

Make the final Amherst 5 - Jacks 4 in a barn burner live from the Jungle.
