METRO DUMPS LUMBERJACKS IN FINAL EXHIBITION GAME
The CIBC Wood Gundy Lumberjacks took their 2--0 pre-season exhibition record to the Bridgewater Memorial Arena ice on Sunday against the Metro Marauders. It was the first and only exhibition game for the Marauders. Things started well for the Lumberjacks as Sam Labenski and Jake Bullen scored to give the home side a 2-0 lead half way through the second period. From that point on it was all Marauders as they scored seven straight goals, including four on the power-play. Boo DiGioacchino notched the final goal of the game to make the final 7-3 Marauders. Joe Hines turned aside 15 of thre 17 shots he faced and Alex Mader stopped 10 of 15 for the Lumberjacks. Summary:Labenski from Luc Ramey; Bullen from Luke Short; DiGioacchino from Justin Roode & Andrew Wigg. Head Coach/GM Jim Bottomley is expected to make his final cuts early this week, in preparation for their home opener on Friday night vs the Amherst Ramblers.
