LUMBERJACKS WIN AT HOME AND LOSE ON THE ROAD
The Nauss Tim-Br Mart Lumberjacks split their two week-end games shut-outing Yarmouth Mariners 6-0 at home Friday night and then dropping a 5-1 decision in Truro, to the Division leading Bearcats.
On Friday night, in front of close to 700 fans, five third period goals broke open a close 1-0 score. Graham Ferguson, of the Mariners, contributed to the explosion as he took a slashing minor, followed by a fighting major with an additional minor for being the agressor. The Lumberjacks scored twice on that power-play and that ended the night for the Mariners. Captain, Jeff Marchand, paced the Lumberjacks with a five point night. The games first star scored twice and added three assists. Third star, Shawn Frank scored once and added two assists. The games second star. Philip Wright, turned aside 37 Mariner shots to pick up the shutout win. Other scorers for the Lumberjacks were: Mickey MacDonald, Jordan Burke & Taite Paul.
On Sunday night the Bearcats jumped out to a 3-0 first period lead and cruised to a 5-1 win. Shawn Frank, from Mickey MacDonald, scored with just under six minutes left in the game to break the shutout. Philip Wright fired 31 shots at Lumberjack goaltender Philip Wright.
The next action for the Lumberjacks will be Friday night when the Dieppe Commandos are in town for a 7:00 PM start. That will be followed by a make-up game with the Halifax Lions on Sunday at 3:30 PM, at the Halifax Forum.
