MARCHAND NETS THREE IN LUMBERJACKS WIN
Nauss Tim-Br Mart Lumberjacks Captain, Jeff Marchand (game's first star), iced the game vs the Halifax Lions with two empty net goals to record the hat-trick and pace his Lumberjacks to a 6-4 wiin over the Halifax Lions in front of 585 appreciative fans in Bridgewater Friday night. The game was a fast paced affair with the Lumberjacks taking a 2-1 lead after one and 4-2 after two. Philip Wright (game's second star) came up big in the third turning aside 17 of 18 shots to keep his club in the lead. With Shawn Frank, Matt Fitzgibbons & Matt Snow not in the line-up, Head Coach Jim Bottomley juggled the lines and the players responded with a good effort. In addition to Marchand's three goals, the Lumberjacks also got goals from Mike Snow, Andrew Wigg & Mickey MacDonald. Snow added two assists for a three point night. The Lions outshot the Lumberjacks 43-31. Lumberjacks fan Rick Wambolt dazzled the crowd as he took home $850 in Cleve's Source for Sports cash by putting 10 of 15 pucks in the net from the opposite blueline. The Lumberjacks take part in an exhibition game Saturday night when they travel to Liverpool to take on the RCMP. Then it is back to the Bridgewater Arena for a 7:00 PM Sunday night game against the second place Pictou Weeks Crushers.
