A rough start for the Lumberjacks in their first 2010 home game against the Amherst Ramblers. A crowd of approx. 600 fans eager for some hockey action gathered at the Bridgewater Memorial Arena only to go home disappointed after the 8-4 loss.

The action started half way in the first when Barron opened the score for the Ramblers. The first period ended 2-0 for the Ramblers after a goal from Mathieu. The Lumberjacks returned fired up in the 2nd and Mickey Macdonald scored on the powerplay. Less than a minute later, Barron scored his second of the game to give Amherst a 3-1 lead. Ryan Getson made it 3-2 and Street answered for Amherst (4-2).

Philip Wright replaced Travis Hall in the net. Jake Lewis scored on the powerplay (4-3) and captain Jeff Marchand tied the game 4-4 six seconds later.   It seemed that the Lumberjacks had gained the momentum and they were about to change the game over, but two minutes later Coleman gave Amherst the lead again 5-4.

In the 3rd period the Ramblers continued to find the back of the net with Barron getting a hat trick (6-4) on the powerplay, Coleman getting his second for the evening (7-4) and Matthews making it the final 8-4. Travis Hall replaced Philip Wright in net again.

Tony Pisano was the 3rd star of the game for the Lumberjacks with two assists and a tilt with Mathieu during the 2nd frame.
